Seven out of ten firefighters and emergency responders are volunteers. If you have the heart to serve your community, you have everything we need.

To become a volunteer with the Cumberland Road Fire Department there are a few steps to take.


The application process for volunteer membership with the Cumberland Road Fire Department starts with you electronically completing the application through the link. Before you get started, you will need to upload the following documents:   High School Diploma or GED. These documents will need to be uploaded at the bottom of the application.


Once the application has been received it will be reviewed for consideration. At such time your application is accepted, and a favorable background check is completed, you will be contacted with the next steps for becoming a volunteer with Cumberland Road Fire Department.


All new applicants are required to attend 3 of our Thursday night meeting/training sessions to acquaint themselves with our operation and standards.

After completing the required meetings, you will be interviewed by members of the training staff and advised of your membership status.

All new volunteers receive a “probationary packet” which is designed to acquaint new members with our operation and the fire service. You will be given a time frame to complete the packet and will be tested to evaluate your knowledge, skills, and abilities.



Part-Time Firefighter/EMT Employment


Cumberland Road Fire Department, Fayetteville N.C. is currently seeking qualified individuals to serve as part-time Firefighters.


Must meet the minimum qualifications.


Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

N.C. Drivers License, Class B preferred.

N.C. Firefighter Level II Certification.

N.C. EMT (basic) certification.

N.C. Hazardous Materials Level I Certification.



Hourly pay rates based on certifications and job assignments.

Incident Report Request

Request for incident reports can be made in person between the hours of 8am-5pm Monday-Friday at the Cumberland Road Fire Department located at 3543 Cumberland Road Fayetteville, NC 28306. A request for Fire Reports must include the date and the address of the incident.
